No sooner does Not Now Silly fire one set of interns over labour unrest, than this new cabal shows its true colours. Inexplicably, despite the letters of recommendation which is sole the reward of all unpaid interns, they’re now demanding the holidays off. They’re starting with Christmas, but before they’re done they’ll be wanting to take Bahá’u’lláh’s Birthday off. It has to stop somewhere. I am now interviewing interns. Apply within.

Headlines Du Jour ► Monday, December 16, 2013

Not Now Silly has been publishing Headlines Du Jour since October 29th. The NNS news team has learned a few things in that time. The biggest problem? The headlines simply won’t wait. They’re ready when they’re ready and not a moment before. And worse yet, they’re only stale when they’ve gone stale and not a moment too soon. The dilemma? The line between the two is so narrow, that one can’t always tell the difference. Which is why Not Now Silly will hire only the most discerning and intelligent interns and then pay them nothing. So, let’s see which intern didn’t hold up their end and needs retooling.

Headlines Du Jour ► Monday, December 2, 2013

Welcome to another thrill-packed edition of Headlines Du Jour. Today I am adding to the format slightly. When appropriate I will be printing quotes from the articles cited to give more context and/or irony. Today there happens to be two such headlines that deserved more context. So, let’s get right to the news while it’s still fresh.

Doob??? Really???

QUOTE: “One has to ask in these circumstances what the benefit to society is,” says University of Toronto criminologist Anthony Doob. Forty years ago, the Le Dain report also questioned the notion that overly harsh laws were harmless if not strictly enforced. Aside from the occasional outlandishly severe sentence, rational people lose respect for laws that are irrational, corroding the faith that citizens — especially young people — ought to place in institutions.

IRONY ALERT!!!

QUOTE: “Yeah, well, you know as well as I, some of the best stories have flaky sources unfortunately,” Carlson concluded.

Before Kurtz was hired by Fox News earlier this year, he had blasted Carlson’s the Daily Caller website after a Dominican law enforcement official claimed that the publication had offered to pay prostitutes to make false claims about Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ).

Kurtz, a CNN host at the time, insisted that the Daily Caller “owes the senators and its readers an apology.”

Headlines Du Jour ► Friday, November 22, 2013

It was the Headline Du Jour around the world 50 years ago. On this day President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. The last words the president heard came from the Nellie Connally, wife of Texas Governor John Connally.

“Mr. President, you can’t say that Dallas doesn’t love you!”

Kennedy replied, “That is very obvious.”

These were JFK’s last words as the first gunshot rang out mere seconds later.
